Rodin´s Approach to Art: PUBLISHERS NOTE |
This folder of Web pages contains a draft for an article or book on Rodin and his approach to Art. The text was basically written in December 2002/January 2003. A few pages about the artists that influenced Rodin are not ready yet, but since I am receiving many requests especially from college students looking for useful online materials on Rodin´s life and art, I decided to publish this essay all the same, as a preview version. This work is available for your personal review, study and discussion; when quoting from it, please refer to it the same way you would refer to any other academic publication you use. Do not copy complete paragraphs or chapters into your homework - some teachers even use web spiders to check if you have written your text by yourself. Except for my own text, you will find an archive of biographical and art-critical materials on artists, that influenced Rodin, collaborated with him, or were influenced by him. As you may have noticed, many interesting Websites are deleted after some time, resulting in "dead links" on pages that refer to them. This is a nuisance to the reader and references cannot be checked properly. For this reason, I have decided to collect and save some of the most relevant materials from the Web. For your convenience, I have combined the text articles with images from additional sources. This way, you will always have quick access to information that helps to understand Rodin in his time. All rights to these archived materials remain with their respective authors!! Featured artists: Antoine-Louis Barye (1795-1875) Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux (1812-1875) Albert-Ernest Carrier-Belleuse (1824-1887) AUGUSTE RODIN (1840-1917) Rainer Maria Rilke (1875-1926) Constantin Brancusi (1876-1957) Alberto Giacometti (1901-1966) (Pages open in new windows - close them by clicking in upper right corner of your browser) Hans de Roos
